Quaker Barn - Bunwell - Norfolk

In April 2022 work began at Quaker Barn. A former clay lump barn used for agricultural and then storage was to be turned into a modern, open plan family home.

The client’s main objective was to modernise and upgrade the space whilst retaining the barns rustic charm and retain as many original features as possible.

The non breathable cement render was removed from the clay lump. Insulation was added in the form of cork boards on the exterior walls and finished with lime render. The property is now fully insulated and boasts an air source heat pump and underfloor heating throughout.

There are exposed walls and original beams everywhere you look, with lots of natural light and original features this barn has been completely transformed. The main living space is complete with a large open plan kitchen/diner, oak pillars and even a wood burner for those colder months.

There are multiple bedrooms which continue to feature the original brick work and clay lump not to mention the bathrooms which have walk in showers and roll top bathtubs.

This barn has managed to keep its original charm whilst being transformed into the perfect modern family home and we hope our clients will be very happy here for years to come.
